ABH pick No. 4—the wish-list barrel that vanished in 2½ minutes.
The fourth ABH release was an Old Forester Single Barrel, 100 Proof—better known as Black Label—from Warehouse J, Floor 7, bottled at 50% ABV and 100 proof.
When Steve and Abe started Arkansas Barrel Heads, they talked about the bottles they would chase if the group ever had the chance to select its own barrels. Old Forester Black Label was at the top of Steve’s list, even though Arkansas had not seen one in years.
Abe worked with Kyle at Purspirit to open the door, and the crew made the trip to Kentucky to select in person. The result was the barrel they had hoped for—and a companion Blue Label pick that was far too good to leave behind.
Black Label Single Barrels are now bottled at 100 proof—50% ABV—after Old Forester moved away from the earlier 90-proof offering. When this one was released, the response was immediate: the entire barrel sold out in just 2½ minutes.
The movie theme was Men in Black, transforming the ABH crew into black-suited, barrel-headed agents on a mission to protect an out-of-this-world bottle—with the raccoons naturally getting involved.
